What a weekend here at Basenji Park. With the Harrisburg Dog show going on right down the road, it's a busy "Basenji" weekend.

It all started Thursday evening. This van pulls up, these two ladies get out and start setting up an xpen in my front yard.:eek: Sure enough they had basenjis and started filling up the xpen with brindle boy puppies.

The wife went out and told them the Park is closed and they weren't in the camping area anyway.:rolleyes:

Wife had to point out some messy spots.

Me being the nice guy that I am decided to go ahead and open the park and let them entertain their basenjis.

So we go over to their van, she opens the door, I look in and hear this wolverine sound coming from a crate. Must have been the look on my face, the lady said, "oh that's Ojo". Ojo?.......sounded more like, OhNO!:eek:
She told me he was just brought from Africa and was a year old.

Ojo was cool, very friendly to people and was fun to watch. I threw him a frizzbie and he was so entertained with it, he carried it all over the place, head up high, all proud.:D

We talked these ladies into the "Optional" foxtailing for their dogs. Really get's them going.:D

Oh and the puppies, how can you not like a bunch of pups? I had to pick each one up for a smooch and a sniff.:D

Some really nice ladies, we enjoyed their visit.

Off to the dog shows! Friday we showed Willy to no avail, big inside show had him a little nervous.
Sat we meet up with our Kisa friends and wade up through the crowds to the ring.
That is some feat dragging all that stuff and five or six basenjis. Seemed like we walked a half mile.
We get to the ring and I spy Red&White Furever and she's chatting with JYS1011.:D

We put them right to work....here hold this dog. We all ran off for some coffee....funny stuff.:)

So the show started, and the action was on!

The crowd rose to a fever pitch as Jasper entered the ring.:rolleyes:

Quite a show and some Barootiful Basenji's.
Gee, now we get to walk that half mile trek again. At least this time we have R&W and JYS to give us a helping hand. Everybody had a Basenji to walk.....but me, I had the cart.:mad:
I drag this thing the half mile gauntlet and we make it back to the motorhome. I go to my truck to get a water, I open the cap door and :eek: :eek: :eek: :eek:

Alright I'm kidding a little, but it was a curly tailed weekend to be sure. I enjoyed meeting up with and spending the day with JYS. I hope you enjoyed Basenji Park as much as we enjoyed having you.

Thank you to our Kisa and Eldorado Basenji friends and Ojo for stopping by and spending some of the weekend with us.......and those wonderful puppies!

Hey, if he is gone... and came home to more then one.. you could tell him he just forgot that there was more then he remembered... , exactly....... gggg.... of course easier if all the same color

awe i want a brindle puppy too! i wish i could've gone to the crazy b weekend too!

my hubby is on an 8 month deployment also. it will be the half-way point in 15 days. all of my countdowns are pathetic. i will say "honey, look, i got you a dog of your own"
"yep, just for you"
technically, fender is my 3 yr old son's
i dont have a dog, just ask my kid

We had a record 15 Basenji's at the Park, not all running around together but it was still cool to have them all there at once.:D

Seeing the African, Ojo running around in the yard was very cool. He was brought to the US by Michael Work on his last trip to Africa. JYS was taking stills of him and hopefully she has some good still shots!

That is really cool! Was he brought out last year? Or has there been a more recent trip?

She said it was the last trip he went on, whenever that was. I think she said he was brought back from the Sudan. It had to be last year because they had him with them at the National Specialty in RI.

Oooohhhhhhhhh! I want one of those adorable puppies! What is one more B in the house? Maybe hubby won't notice - he's been gone on deployment 8 months maybe I could convince him that we really had three dogs before he left and he just doesn't remember! LOL!

Yeah, I wanted to steal one when they weren't looking.:D Those B Boys where really cute, I carried one out to the van on Sat. night in the rain, had him under my coat........OMG.........puppy breath.

What's one more? :D

I gotta chime in here :D I had a BAAAAALLLL at Basenji Park...they boss lady was nice enough to let me in & play with the resident B's since I didn't bring one with me :( (the kids stayed home with DH). I had a lotta explaining to do when I got home :eek:

The Basenji Park staff were very hospitable people with all of their patrons :) I really had the best time ever. I learned a WHOLE bunch...met some really expereineced B people. AND I got to meet all the Basenji Park residents :D :D :D

I will post those pics asap :)

The only coat we don't have here at Basenji Park, they certainly get in free!:rolleyes: Ojo was the first Tri to visit.;)

I watch for the Fedx truck all the time hoping you had a bad day.:D

I wish you would've been here too, you could've personally ordered yourself a pup or two:D .

What a wonderful time I had on Saturday morning! Seeing BBoy and Mrs. BBoy again was such a treat! And meeting JYS was wonderful! I wish I had been able to go to the gathering afterward and suck up some more puppy breath and good company! Alas, a little black and white kitty from the rescue I visited after show found it's forever home. :)

BTW JYS, exactly how many puppies could you fit in a bag?! ;) :D lol!

BBoy - I'm waiting on the tee shirt and poop bags - and both had better have the BASENJI PARK logo on them! ;) :D

BBoy! What a busy, fun weekend. Glad you got to go to this one - guess you had no choice since all the Basenjis camped out in your park. How cool! Loved all the pictures - Thanks for sharing the good times with us.

I hope to go to a couple more shows this Summer, I really had fun. I was the only male there and they made me pull the cart and drive them around the show to save some steps:rolleyes: ............. I really did enjoy my day with the gals!

You and the Mrs. are an amazing couple to have extended yourselves to others as you did that weekend. You are both so great for the breed and I'm sure the show community too!

The weather has been horrible this April but hopefully some relief is coming this weekend.;)

Hey BBOY I hope Basenji Park is okay...and not Basenji Lake :( due to the terrible storm. We had it bad by us! So glad I decided to go on Sat and not Sun...flooded basement was not pretty :eek:

Ahh, don't like to hear that, sounds messy:( . We just had 40+ mile an hour winds and some rain. I hope you're getting all dryed out. Swimming pool in the basement does not sound like fun and I hope nothing of value was ruined.:(
