:) Yay I'm planning to go! I live in Studio City but my mom and dad live in Sunnyvale so I'll just stay with them and hit the show I cant wait I want to take lots of pictures.
I'm excited I have been to some dog shows but I have never been to a specialty. I dont know much about them other than someone told me there are alote more basenji's around.I see that there is a banquet and auction. What kinds of things do they auction???

Anything remotely Basenji or African related. Actually a lot of very good finds-I found some old issues of the Basenji Mag!

The auction is great... things you will mostly never see anyplace else... it is really cool and we have lots of stuff planned for during the week too.....
Depending on gas and stuff, usual entry for the regular show is over 400 Basenjis.... so, yes.. lots of B's around....
Please consider being a class sponsor... and help No. Ca make this the best Specialty yet!!!! And don't forget the clothes for sale with the logo.... this is not silk screened.. these are embroidered... and they are really cool... once the deadline for order is past.. that will be it.. they will not be available after...
Hope to see and meet lots of you at the Nationals!!!!!

I am really looking forward to it. I haven't been to a National since the Arizona National in Scottsdale, AZ. This time I will probably have just about a dog for nearly every event. :)

I have a question since I have never been to a specialty is this an outdoor event I can bring my dog to or should I leave the little one at home? I was not sure if it is only open to the dogs that are going to be in the show.

This is not an outdoor event with the exception of the Lure Trials and Af Match that are Oct 13th and 14th in Livermore. Certainly you are welcome to bring your B (or any dog) to that event... the show itself at the fairgrounds will be indoors and be much better to leave them home unless you want to set up an expen outside the building.

Pat, is there going to to any special opening ceremony or parade of dogs? I didn't see anything like that on the events calendar.

There is not.. the only parade is on Sunday at Livermore with the Af Match and the parade of Full Afs that happens after the match.

Oh, yes. Sally Wourno's little bitch is absolutely wonderful. I'm hoping (keeping my fingers crossed that all Sugar's tests come back acceptable) to breed Sugar with her dog 'Ron.' Wanda was there also with Blade. Chris and Allie Cowe were there. Sue's little boy Jammers took reserve to Blade.

This weekend marks the begining of the 2007 BCOA National Specialty in California, hosted by the Basenji Club of Northern California.

I know this yearly event is the Mecca for Basenji breeders and certainly our resident forum Basenji Breeders. I wish all attending this years event an enjoyable week and hope all have fun!:)

I want to get my soapbox out here and thank those very breeders that come to this forum everyday to lend thier knowledge and experience, your contributions can't be understated. Thank You all!

I know many have put time and effort into making this years Specialty a success, but a special thanks to our fellow foumite Pat (Tanza).......good luck Pat, I know you've put in a lot of time and effort to make it happen.;)

For those of you in that area, it's the ultimate Basenjifest, try to get there if you can.
For those of you that are going to the Senjifest.........lot's of pictures please!:D :D :D For those of us that can't make it.:D

Of course it is pouring rain today... and we (at least not in the 25 yrs I have lived in California) had rain this early in the month of October... never till maybe the end of the month.... sigh....

Of course we had a bunch of people "complain" that we were showing indoors... hmmm think if it rains on Tuesday as they say it will, they will be singing a different tune....

And I would think that Chance will be in Tuesday (sweeps) and Wednesday (dog classes)....

Cool! I'll get to meet Vanessa! Is Chance entered?

I look forward to meeting you too!

I've entered the little devil. Unfortunately I won't be there to watch him in action. I work for law firm and with trial during Nationals I will be missing my pup in action :( My handler will be giving me updates though. I will be there Sat and Sunday to show my support and if this case settles (god willing) I'll be there as much as I can during the week.

I really hope this rain stops. Its pouring down here in the south bay!

Good luck to all - I had planned on flying out late Wednesday and home on Sat night but my mom is not doing very well at the moment (91) and to compound her issues - he little old pomeranian that was living with my sister - died this week.

Enjoy and if you get a chance to drive out to Yosemite - do it.

Oh and for anyone that is interested, we have already had to move the Af Stock Exb since the place it was to be held is now flooded... sigh.... and the fun begins.... and just think we had so many people complain that we have all the conformation (with the exception of the ASE) indoor... remarking that "it is so nice this time of year in California".... NOT....

Everyone is probably exhausted. It was a long day yesterday. The last event didn't finish until 7:30pm and then some of us helped with the blood draw which took until about 8:00pm. I had to drive home so I could teach today and didn't actually get home until midnight.

My husband is showing Sophie today in Puppy Sweeps. So far no news about how it is going.

Yesterday Nicky, DC Sherwood's In The Nick of Time SC, RN, LCM took 4th in the 9-11 year Vet Dog class. Pat's boy OJ was the oldest Vet in Sweeps and took 2nd in his class.

Sophie was 2nd in the 50% not greater than 75% 9-12 AF Puppy Class and her brother, Zeke, was 3rd in his class.

Lisa/Pat--do you know how late the events will go Friday afternoon? I'm going to be in a meeting in San Ramon in the a.m. and wanted to stop by the fairgrounds in the afternoon. I couldn't tell from the schedule what time the afternoon events would start and end.

We start at 10am... and most likely will be done around 2/3pm.... however if you can, come by on Saturday for the Basenji Club of Northern California Specialty... (yes us here in No Cal are nuts to have put on a National Specialty followed directly by our regional Specialty)

Does anybody know where I can check for results? I heard through the grapevine that Magnum's dad won some sort of veteran's award, and I'd like to confirm that.

Good job to all the workers and planners - these things don't go on by magic but lots of hard work. I wish I could've been there but as we all know "life is what happens when we're making other plans."

Congrats to all winners - and congrats to all who participated - after all you can't win if you don't play. Thanks for playing!
