My sweet little basenji girl died last Friday morning. She woke my husband up so she could say goodbye. He did CPR on her but nothing worked. She was only three and a half years old She had been diagnosed with distemper in March but was doing very well. The neurologist expected her to live for a long time. She was doing so well that we had just adjusted her meds and then she was gone. I sure do miss her little nose smelling at the back door as I opened it when I got home every afternoon. I miss her daily dose of baroos and her sleeping on my pillow, and well, I miss everything. I wish I could have loved her longer.....

Thanks to everyone for all of your support and advice when I found out she was sick. You folks are the greatest.

Karen

Oh Karen. My heart could not sink any lower than it is after reading your post. I can't imagine, after such a short time of having her in your life.

I am sitting here with tears in my eyes, I can't imagine losing a furbaby that you had for such a short time. It is always so sad when someone loses their B's no matter how long you have had them, but I can only put myself in your place b/c I have had my furbaby for 1 and1/2 yrs. and I would be devasted if she just up and died. My husband would be also, I have never seen a grown man love a dog so much, they are buds. I hope you will remember the good times and maybe get another baby to share your life with. Take care!

I'm very sorry to hear of your loss. I'm sure Keba will be waiting for you at the bridge. Perhaps she is playing with my departed Sugar Bear.

My heart goes out to you and ur husband. I'm so sorry you went through this. It is very hard but keep her thoughts close to you as I'm sure she will continue watching her parents from the rainbow bridge.

I am so sorry to hear about your loss. I just lost my sweet Patsy after 16+ years and I can't imagine only having your basenji for such a short time. May you be comforted by your memories.

Karen,

I am so sorry to read of Keba's passing. There are no words to be said that will make it any easier for you but Keba loved your family and I am sure you loved her just as much.

Karen,

I know that tugging sad feeling to know your special girl is gone. You were so special to have had such a sweet girl in your life. It is a blessing to have experienced the life as well as the loss.

I feel that it is difficult to percieve why some are taken young and that it is better to cherish the experience that you went through together. It makes you a richer person in the end.

I send my encouragement to you and your husband. It may be hard to experience the loss, but there are other basenjis out there that can benefit from such caring parents.
