I want to go (If I'm workin I'll have my boyfriend take the little guy)! I'm in Studio City I will also let the people we know from the North Hollywood dog park about it they have two B's. Meeting at a dog park would be great maybe one day we can even do the dog beach.

yea that's great. i know there are more owners in our area. it's just a matter of finding them. i know there's a Basenji named Iowa that goes to Barrington Dog Park in Brentwood and Runyan and Laurel Canyon as well.

what do you guys think about trying to do this at the new Playa Vista dog park? it's quite large.

I know that basenji Iowa, she used to go with the dog walkers every week day to the Laurel Canyon park they had two basenji's Wiley and Iowa. Until one of the dog walkers got in a bad motorcycle accident:( about a month ago.
There's a handful of B's that go to that park, its tough to see them because most of the owners only go once a week at random.

I visited the Playa Vista dog park - actually found it really small compared to others, and the barkdust made the dogs sneeze! Barrington is my favorite: really large, lots of grass. The dog park at El Segundo is also great: grass, benches, trees, plenty of play space. I've consistently seen a young Basenji named Tyler at both Barrington and Laurel Canyon; he's the only one that has ever gotten my Ziggy to run! ~ Lori ~

Hi ZenGrrrl and Basenjibratz I heard you guys met my Garrett today! Is he a cutie pie or what, lol I think so. My boyfriend Brian told me he met you guys at the Laurel Cyn dog park and that all the basenjis were so adorable. He said Ziggy is one of the most handsome tri's he has ever met and that he like's Savanna's unique face and that she's real cute when she comes up for a pet. I'm so mad at myself for sleeping in (I usually go with him)! Sounds like we might be seeing Bella basenji's owner's on here soon too. C-yeah !

hey everyone...

just to let everyone know - i take Roxy to the beach everyday after work in the Marina. there is a group of us that let our dogs (all breeds) run around off leash. we are there around sunset (even 1 hour before).

if anyone trusts their basenji off-leash on the beach, this is a great place to go.

the best way to explain where it is:
-Marina del Rey, near the Channel and the Jetty
-cross streets - Speedway and Topsail

Ziggy is Talker's Father.
Savannah is Ziggy's grandchild. Her mother is sister to Talker (same litter) which makes Savannah Talker's niece.

Lots of times people stop me and ask, "Are they brother and sister?" when I say no, uncle and niece, they think that's so funny. :confused: I guess its not common.

I might be able to go to Laurel Canyon on Sunday morning. We're having company over Saturday and I'm not sure if they are staying the night.

If I do come on Sunday, I hope to see some of you around 10:30 or so?

Hi Guys I wanted to say I had a great time @ the dog park today. There were about 6 Basenji's and such great weather! I dont understand when people say B's are not good at dog parks. I say they should meet all of our Basenji's they are angels at the park! Have a great week and see you next Saturday.

The other day, I had the thought about dog CPR. What would I do if one of my kids was critically injured? I know that you can do CPR on dogs but don't know exactly how its done. Have any of you taken "doggie CPR"?

The Laurel Canyon Dog Park is close to Burbank just about two citys away.
It would be great to meet some new basenjis. We meet every saturday around 10am ish and I would say we usually average 6 B's its really cool to see them all together.

That's me and Tyler; we were on Tuesday night at 10--pics are in the LA INK post under Chit Chat. It will air again Feb 26 at 9pm. And then, like all reality shows will repeat ad nauseum.

Sorry Tyler and I haven't been to Saturday mornings lately -- we've been going everywhere else: Runyon, Long Beach Dog Beach, Santa Monica mountains.

Although I was at Laurel Canyon park today and there were 8 basenjis there at once! Crazy!! I wanted to get a picture of them all together but as you know, that would be hard.

Just a quick thank you to Denise (Seti) and Brian (Garrett) who showed up for out Pasadena Basenji Play date. It was hot and I appreciate you both making the trip in this hot weather. It was really fun and I enjoyed the afternoon. The dogs all got along great and as soon as I can, I'll post some pixs of the afternoon. I wish the weather would have been cooler. It was better when we finally decided to move the human party under the tree. Seti and Talker finally did do some playing late afternoon and it was a highlight. Garrett you're chair is always available for you for your nap.

Hello Laurel Canyon dog park B-Gang ... I'm delighted to announce that Ziggy now has a wonderful little sister! She, too, is a retired show dog whose competition name was "Unexpected Treasure." Her new name is Zen Zhara (pronounced ZAR-uh). She's a fiesty red/white 4-year-old who is definitely going to keep Ziggy on his toes! They're already playing and wrestling in my livingroom; I've even seen her do a few "body slams" to get his attention.

There have been up to 12 LA basenjis at a time now. That's enough for a calendar. 3 of us are now 2-basenji households. It's pretty crazy when they all start yodeling together.
