MALE Basenji H E L P !!!!

So I have A male basenji (Spike) and recently he has began whinning and howling ALL the time. So my question to be blunt is does he need some action? He has also started licking spots on the ground and his teeth chatter like his lower jaw rattles has anyone ever heard of any of this?

thats what I thought...He runs to every window looking outside and I can hardly get him to come inside when we take him outside. I figured he smelled something he "likes" and wants to find it.

My 10 year old fixed (many years) male does the teeth chatter some times on an interesting scent. As a matter of fact I've seen my female do it also on a couple of occasions.

Is this common??

Yup.... my 16+ very long neutered does it... and my girls always have...;)
