I can't believe they are trying to sell those boys for almost 900 dollars.. poor babies look fed but mangy... :(

I sent this on to BRAT, but the prices are way beyond what we can do..

Well maybe if they don't sell them, they might do a "package" deal....what was it 300.00 each? I think that is what she put in the mail to me...

And if you look at the pictures, certainly they do not take care of their nails...

And "champion bloodlines" what a crock.....

I do hope BRAT or someone with good intentions can get them.
I hate to see them continue in the breeding poor.
Not only sad for the dogs, but the quality of these pups has to be poor...or am I reading this line wrong??

And I don't know if any of you looked at the other breeds for sale, how sad... and they might take less, the Beagles were $50...

I know when my friend goes to the pet auctions, the bidding starts at $25.
Most of those b's go for less than $50.
Course, its not just the cost...its where do we put them when we start to rehab them.
Lots of folks are off on vacations with the families.
Sorry, I hate to be negative...
BUT reality is we needs to have $$ to get the dogs, places to put them when we get them fixed and used to homes...and then folks to adopt them.
Sometimes the $$ is the least of it.
Fingers crossed I can share some good news on this group.

I can't get over how the website says repeatedly that these people LOVE dogs. Yeah, love making $$ off of them. I mean, can they even wrap their heads around the harm they've done to each of those breeds?

I received an email from this person that stated they are going out of business and want to sell their breeding dogs and bitches... Don't know if those of you with BRAT or other rescue want to try and get these basenjis. Looks like they have 3 bitches and 2 males...

Wow, after looking at the pictures of these dogs my gut reaction is very poor breeding. Also in one of the pictures the nails of that dog were terribly long. Their physical condition leaves much to be desired. This certainly does not speak well for the person who runs this breeder farm.

I thought some looked like barrels, not basenjis. :eek:
Although there was one that looked a bit thin to me; I think it may have been the little female that produces a litter every year.

I also noticed the nails, and the fact that these dogs don't look like pure bred basenjis. They are kind of disproportional.

Well, BRAT has phoned and offered to take them off this breeders hands, and please contact us if they want to give the dogs to rescue.
I understand from other lists, this woman is calling quality breeders to see if they will buy these dogs from her. They checked out the photos and lines, and lots of humors comments were shared.

So, we will just have to see how it goes.

I agree with what everyone has said. These dogs do not look like they have been treated well over the years. Certainly a puppymill/BYB situation :( I hope they find some homes VERY soon...

Hey Sharron, wasn't there a post by someone a few days ago asking where to buy a female and male so they could start breeding? (ducking:eek:) ! I think it was in the new breeder needs help post:p

Yes, and we can't share information if we are afraid the dogs will fall into the wrong hands. Jason, I so hope this person asking read the info the good breeders sent out..
re these dogs...
I hope they are sent to rescue, to be fixed and rehomed...
BUT if someone buys them at this price *oh, I guess when this woman started selling them, she wanted $500* we can't control that...darn it!
I know the quality breeders are sad these dogs will still be out there breeding..

or rescueing him if brat gets them, i don't know about 300 for him, Abby despite her breeding habbits is a good dog, and she does not look like them she is not round and has good stance, she has also been fanconi tested clear. I figured when I bought her there was something up with this lady, but thought if I could rescue 1 dog that was one less for her to have, I only paid 250 for Abby. I would not trade her for the world, if brat gets them please someone let me know.

Maybe they just messed up the photos :o -- those boys in particular looked really strange for pure basenjis.
I hope they can find GOOD homes (I'm not yet ready to take another).

Did you visit this kennel? If so, what were your observations of the place and the dogs?

Robyn-I did not get to see where they were raised we met half way to get Abby but I suspected something was not right, The story goes I got a puppy from her, she sold her to me cheap because she screwed up the registration for her mother so she could not be registered, I said that was fine. I know everyone tells storys about thier B's having seperation issues this first dog that I got was nuts, she was literally crazy, you could not even think about leaving the room and she woul scream litterally, my neighbors probably thought we were beating our kids or something. Anyway i put her on her kennel as i had to go to work when I came home she so upset during the day the she tried to get out of the cage she dug so hard she prolapsed her rectum, I took her to the vet, he fixed her up but proceeded to tell me that she was crazy, So I took her back to the breeder she said she had another puppy that was a little older and she would exchange them, again we met half way. That is how I got abby, Abby is perfectly fine the only issues she has are the same as all the other ones on this site. Her reason for Meeting me half way was due to how far away it was, at first i didn't think anything of it.

Oh, honey...that is a major red flag.
If the breeders will not let you come to the house, see how the dogs were raised, meet the sire or dam...then there is REALLY something wrong.
It also give you a clue to how the b's were treated...

Yes it is a major red flag, but only to us that know that is not the way responsible breeders place puppies... when yo think about it... it "sounds" better then going to the pet store... you might think they are really doing you a favor...

That is why people need to get the "word" out on how to find a responsible breeder and why it is important to get your pup from a responsible breeder...

I know all of this now but you live and learn, and I assure all of you the next baby I get will be from a responsable breeder. All though like I said before Abby is great and I would not trade her for the world. She is Fanconi free and other than that she has typicle B behavior. So I am glad for that.

We all have to start some place in b's..
Your Abby was very lucky you found her.
All dogs need loving owners like yourself.
We just need to stop the puppymillers and pet shops.
That is my dream...
