View Full Version : Login time??

Just wondering. There seems to be a time limit now on how long you are logged in on the forums. This sometimes presents a problem for me. I'll be logged in and typing a post, then something comes up (like cooking dinner, a phone call, or a BAD 'senji behavior) and by the time I get back to the computer, I'm logged out.
I don't mind that so much now that I routinely do a copy/paste in case I lose a post, but it's irritating when I'm trying to catch up on the weekends by using "new posts". I'm reading, then I come back, I'm logged out, and all the 'new posts' are gone.
I know I can look at the bottom of the page or check the individual threads at the home site, but it was so much faster, and less tedious, just to click 'new threads'.
Perhaps it's just my computer. If so, sorry for the post.

I have the same problem. There is a 20 minute limit and the "remember me" function still does not work for me. I have come to hate the thumbnail photos also because I have to log in again to look at each one at full size.

Remember me function? Where?

When you log in there is a box that says Remember Me? If you check that box the site should remember you so that you don't have to keep logging in every 20 minutes. When they did the last upgrade it stopped working for me on all my computers no matter what I have tried so I am constantly having to log back in.

I'll try it. Thanks.
Thanks for letting us know. We will look into it.
The "remember me" function for me seems to be intermitently working. It will work for a while, but the next day maybe not.

If you get it to work even intermittently then you are doing better than me.

?? I'm logged in the clock round !! 24 h a day. Must be your configuration I suppose.
Sometimes clearing your browser cookies and browser file cache can help.
If your browser is using some kind of ad blocking software or you have an anti virus with internet protection installed that can cause issues like this, try disabling that for a while and see if that is the problem.
We will look into increasing the timeout to 1hr instead of 20 min on the server and making "remember me" option always checked by default. See if that helps.

I already did that the first you told me to. It didn't help. And even if I have just logged in there are certain functions that I can not do without logging in again. I just don't even bother trying to look at the thumbnails anymore because the first attempt always says I don't have permission try refreshing, I try that then half the time I end up having to log back in. I was trying to edit of of my profile setting yesterday and every time I hit the edit button I was taken to the log in screen would log in be returned to the initial screen so I clicked edit again and ended up right back at the log in screen.
We changed some settings on the server. Please let us know if it's any better now. I have a hunch that the problem lies within your browser. I will do some more digging around to test that theory.
Those members who are are still experiencing issues please visit http://www.iputility.com/ and email all the details after running the browser check to admin@basenjiforums.com.

I don't think it is my browser because I use different browsers on my two computer and have the same issues on both.

The "remember me" function has never worked for me since I became a member. Just an FYI

I'm not having any problems at all (I use Firefox as my internet access) - although on my home computer I do have to start typing in my login name then it fills in the rest and password; my work computer automatically has my login name filled in.
