Looking for Vari-Kennels

I have been looking for the older style Doskocil Deluxe Vari-Kennels EVERYWHERE without success. They used to come in Teal or Cocoa, with the round latch handle. Apparently Doskocil has discontinued them and now only offer the "Ultra" in 200 or 300 sized. The Ultra has the squeeze type latch like the very old ones had, and they are more curved on the top so that they don't stack well, and seem to be of a much cheaper, thinner material. Trying to pick one up by the handle results in the handle breaking, grr!

We still have quite a few of the Deluxes, but still was wondering if anyone knew where some might be available.

Me too! I probably can't afford to stock up right now, but it would be worth looking into. I don't like the new design either and would like a few more old ones before they become impossible to find. I have a deluxe 200 in navy from 7 years ago. Have you tried checking with a few mail order companies like Fosters and Smith to see if they still have some old ones left that they sell in bulk? I got mine from a breeder who had bought some in bulk. The other benefit of those is that the wire grating sides are a lot less chewable and escapable than the newer models that have holes punched in the plastic.

Heck the way they're making them these days it's a lot cheaper and about the same quality to just get one from WalMart. I think it's made by Petmate which is the same brand as the vari kennel. And a lot cheaper than most places. I got one a couple years ago and it has held up well.

Oops, went back and looked at the ultras, and at least they still have the wire side grating, though they do add the punched holes in the back, argh. But they still don't have those nice door locks, side locks, thick plastic, and easy stacking/cleaning shape like the deluxe. :(

I have complained to Dosk. But they claim mine is the first complaint they have received. :(
