Rest in peace my dear, little Luna. Quercus Select Incandescent 12/8/04 - 5/23/09. I came downstairs this morning to find my youngest girl dead in her crate. We think it was an allergic reaction to something, most likey a bug bite.

Our house is in mourning...she was the sweetest, cutest basenji girl...I was so looking forward to her being an outstanding mother later on this year. It isn't supposed to happen this way....our dogs are supposed to grow old, enjoy their whole life...I can't stop crying....

Thank you so much for your kind words, everybody. The vet seems to think it was just a freak incident..probably a pulmonary embolism. She thinks we would have seen more distress, and symptoms if it had been an allergic reaction. We are struggling through our day :(

One of the most tragic/ironic things about this is that I had been waiting to breed this little bitch..as my first real breeding (my plans, my choice of stud, etc); when she came back as a clear of Fanconi, I was beyond thrilled. I think, maybe the universe is telling me now is not the time for me to be a breeder :(
