1 red and white male, reds have black hairs mixed into their coats when they are born, the black hairs begin to disappear as they grow. 1 black and white female, and 1 black and white male. The black male has the least white of all the pups both the black female and red male, have blazes and full white collars.

Proud mama is DC Sherwood's Shadow of the Moon SC, FCh, JOR (black and white)
Proud papa is Avongara Cole of Brushy Run JC (black, brindle, and white)

:) Awww - I've never seen newborns either. Except for their color, I don't recognize them as basenji. They are cute - cute - cute! I'm glad mom and babies are doing well. I read it was a tough delivery for her and especially you. :)

Mom is doing well. She is starting to reach the stage where she feels it is okay to leave them for some "mom" time but keeps it short so she can get back to them. She is a wonderful mom and really dotes on the babies.

So glad all is well and that she is settling in to her new role as a Mommy. As we all know, "mom time" is very important. I guess dogs know they need it instinctually (sp.?) instead of spending $$ on therapy....LOL!
Please keep us posted on how everyone is doing and thanks again for sharing the information and those pictures!

This morning the boys decided to start practicing those escaping skills. They haven't managed to escape yet but they are getting closer. Their eyes are not even open yet and already they are looking for mischief :)

at how many days/weeks old do they open eyes?

Basenji_Boy
12-17-2006, 04:02 PM
Look out, here they come.:D Do you litter train them? Our breeder had our last two litter trained, very handy and the transition to the outside wasn't hard.

lvoss
12-17-2006, 04:09 PM
Their eyes open between at about 2-3 weeks.

I did not litterbox train my first litter. We are going to give it a try with this litter. Rally was litterbox trained and we have the litterbox in the room with the pups so once they are more mobile we will see if they will use it.

The pups are growing fast and should be opening their eyes in a few days. I thought I had better be sure to enjoy this quiet time with them before they reach that go, go, go stage.
