Sally, On Otis you are correct, as far as the name..
Good luck on the weather and the picture taking on sunday, meanwhile enjoy your company and happy, quiet dogs in the backyard…

I don't mean to be picky and many times I can correctly ID the dog from the call name but I really can't afford mistakes except when my own fingers do it.

  • @Zande:

Now do I ! I get them from proud owners and from the AKC Award Books which Marvin gets me for Christmas every year. I am sure they can be found somewhere but like all else, it is a question of time.

you know, i always wondered about how you knew. It was just sort of magical. Your website and the book The Basenji Stacked and Moving are 2 things I think every breed should have. Thank you for doing such a wonderful job!!! I'm in awe of how you do it all.

  • Thank you for all your hard work and I know it is hard work keeping up with all of that. I wish I could help in some way. Thank you adding Jaycee birth date not sure you had her color it is red and white. Have fun with house guest and great weekend. Thanks again.

AKC Award books, kind breeders who send in litter data as soon as it is registered, various National websites (Finland, Poland, Sweden and others), people who go to shows and nag other exhibitors into sending me data. Basenji Lists (BRAGS). Various 'official' publications - UK Breed Record Supplements etc. BRAT and other Rescue Organisations. Show catalogues (Lisa V. is a huge help here - I simply don't have time to visit Onofrio etc when results are 'up'). Once you have a litter registration number, the AKC website will often furnish siblings if they are registered. Helpful folks in some countries - which reminds me I need to nag South America and Russia again soon. . . and even the CPP website combined with the AKC ditto.

I see from the incoming mail this morning there is more from BRAT and from Italy - I will try to do a total re-indexing exercise this evening or tomorrow morning.

Sally, you are an amazing person for doing all this. What an asset for the breed and for B owners and breeders. Thank you.

  • OK - don't look now, give it all time to be ftp'd. But corrections and additions are on their way to the pedigree website.

  • Thanks Sally!

One way that people can help Sally. If you find a new basenji website you can see if the dogs on the site are listed in Sally's database. If they are not, you can send her the information. There are new websites up all the time and they can be great sources of information but it is impossible for one person to find all of them.

  • It is important to get non AKC registered Bs in Sally's database. They are difficult to track since these registries do not have a database like the AKC. Just let Sally know what registry it is when you send her the information. I have seen Bs registered with APRI, ACA, CKC-Continental Kennel Club and UABR.

If you are able to get pedigree information on petstore pups that are being sold, please send it also.

Sally I appreciate all the work you do with the database!

    Thanks!

    Jennifer

  • Yes please ! Dogs don't have to be registered anywhere.
Just send me whatever you have or can find. Mom, Dad, date of birth, color, sex. If you have a reg# from any organisation, it is a BIG help to build up the picture but any data can be added, even months or years later.

  • HI sally

A big THANK you ! I will add him and it will appear as soon as I do another re-indexing, re-uploading exercise. At the moment I am trying to catch up on the fanconi results from the CPP website.
