Can't believe it's not a basenji

Patty, thanks for the note. I told Lisa not to spend the $$ as Wheat is going to always be a virgin, but she wanted to, just for information to share with folks. I can't believe what a treat this little girl is to our family. She came all the way from Africa to find us. We are so lucky.

Hachiko was a famous Akita immortalized for being supremely loyal to his owner, even after he died. I won't give away too much for fear of spoiling the story (though it's common lore amongst Japanese schoolchildren). There's a statue at the Shibuya station in Tokyo commemorating this faithful dog.

I haven't seen the American version, but I did see the Japanese version a while back. I'm kind of a sucker for animal movies, and the Japanese tend to churn out some rather amusing ones (Milo & Otis, anyone?). Kind of lukewarm about this one, though.

I don't know of any Rita Jean. Mine was born Christmas Day which makes it easy to remember.

Yes, they also have to at police academy here. She's hoping…hoping...that having it done now, she will not have to later. I doubt it, but you never know.

She tried the milk thing and said it really didn't work. Some info we got suggested canola oil {absorbed the pepper} followed by a wipe down w/alcohol. She didn't want to try that. Spent the night w/bags of frozen potatoes and veggies on her neck and chest, LOL.

She was doing okay today; her biggest problem was that her eyes are still irritated and she forgets and rubs them, which is uncomfortable.

Also, based on her performance last night, she was asked today to consider taking special training in female defense training and to begin to work w/a female sgt. on doing work w/that on campus - demonstrations and training.

If you met her, you'd never know she had it in her. She's 5'7", maybe 130 if that {and very pretty, of course;) }; You'd think she's all about hair, make up, and shoes. She's living proof that girly-girls can kick butt! 😃

I feel the same way. My husband and I did (ex-husband still does, since he's got the animals) many educational programs for the public. We are members of the local herp society and visited schools, nature centers, and anywhere that would have us to share our pets and our knowledge of reptiles. People are so ignorant regarding herps, and have such horrible misconceptions of these creatures. It was very fulfilling to prove them wrong and to actually watch them walk away with respect for those animals (even if just a little bit).
