I know how you feel. It's horrible to live close to animal neglect. My new next-door neighbors leave their two dogs out 24/7– heat, rain, snow, lightning storm. They have a big fenced yard, but almost no shade. Of course, the dogs bark non-stop. There's no talking to people like that-- I've already been told to mind my own business. Maybe your neighbor will take you up on your offer... but probably not. It's sad.

Hi IMBJ, I'm not in Japan but my son & grandsons live in the Bay Area and he has a friend who teaches in Tokyo. No word yet from her. I'm glad so glad the tsunami spared SF. I hope you and your B are okay!

LOVED that Sharron! I sent the link on to my sister and threatened that I am going to teach her Chow some of the tricks - I like the one where the two GS walk beside the guys and sit on cue.

Hmmm… I might be able to get my cat Barney to do that. He's the one that already shakes a paw for a treat.

It's been a very long time since I read The Wizard of Oz. Is Wichita where the story starts?

I googled "Dorothy's House Wichita" and nothing came up except ways to get to Liberal. That's where the house is that is advertised all over Kansas as THE Dorothy's House. From what I understand (and I have been wrong before…it could happen again) the house in Liberal is where they did some of the filming.

But I love the Witch-ita reference...:D

I think Dorthy's house was just considered to be a farm house "out in the middle of nowhere".

We used to have Blue Jays come around and really squawk and squawk. Now we have crows, mostly mornings doing the squawking, squirrels doing the whining and a woodpecker playing the drums on the telephone poles. Natures band!
