    I had a sore knee one night and put some bengay on it before bed. WE went to bed as usual, Abbey intending to claim her usual spot behind the crook of my knees. In a few seconds she came crawling back out of the covers, clearly puzzled about the smell. She went to the OTHER side of the bed thinking it would smell better over there, but no such luck. She came right back out again, not happy at all and started whining. I said either get on top of the covers or sleep in the living room and turned over on my side. No sooner had I closed my eyes than she goes WHAAP and hit me so hard in the face that I saw little flashes of light! MY DOG HIT ME!! The next day I had a bruise on my face and felt the need to explain at work that I am not the victim of spousal but doggal abuse!

    I remember the first time my now ex husband punished my first basenji. The next morning when he put his slippers on he stepped right into a nice pile of poo. The dog also whizzed on his pillow in revenge!!

    Cyrus also "punishes" us in bed. Cyrus likes to sleep under the covers. Sometimes Hemi (55lbs keep in mind) and I (God forbid I would use the covers) are laying on the covers, making it impossible for Cyrus to tunnel underneath. Cyrus walks onto my pillow and starts digging in my long hair as if it is kitty litter. He has actually ripped pieces out! Very naughty!

    Basenji's have a way to keep us in line. When I punish our boy Chance he will jump on his hind legs and box me in the face too. :o

    Great story! I can relate…I had to visit the eye doctor last year for a corneal abrasion because of a similar incident with Manning. =)

    Our little angel scratched my back the other night because I had not lifted the covers fast enough for her highness to go to her favorite spot, under the covers and in the crook of my legs!

    Ladybasenji, where are you in Quebec? Montreal? We have a place in Gatineau (Aylmer sector) and one of my dogs might even be related to yours. You're experiences with your girl remind me so much of my first basenji, about 20 years ago–it gets easier, I swear! Let me know if you'd like help with Lady--they're nothing like labs and will never be "obedient" but there are tricks for training them : D

    No problems, lets me learn for future reference which is always a good thing :) Kaia is still petite. I haven't weighed her in about 2 weeks or so, she had been hovering just a smidge under 18 lbs, she may have finally gone over that now. That's why I was hoping to put off until July, wanted to make sure she had plenty of time to grow because we weren't too sure if she grows slowly or if she'll just stay petite. But I look back on her first pictures with us and wonder when she got so big!

    If Malaika is lying down and you tickle her tum, she rolls partialy over or lifts her back leg to give better access :D She also loves you to scratch the back of her head, this makes her frown and her lips stretch into a realy long Crocodile grin. I will have to try and get a pic,lol

    @snorky998: You guys got me laughing as I picture "Elaine" from the 'Friends' TV series when she thinks she's the great dancer, and she really appears to be in some sort of zen spaz attack.:D I think you are thinking of Elaine from Seinfeld…. but that is exactly what I was thinking of

    I think I saw Sophie on a b video website and I was so glad that someone else's B made that noise I showed it to my husband and daughter. Thanks for posting that video because as a new B owner we thought we had some kind of devel dog!!! She does it the most to our oldest dog Josie. There are nights she even does it from under our covers in bed when she hears Josie moving out in the living room. Too Funny!!!!
