    Hello everyone (first post actually). So after months of doing research on the breed and considering it and talking to owners online I have finally decided that I am going to get a Basenji. Unfortunately I can't find any breeders in my area that are planning or have a litter of puppies on the way. If anyone on here has a pup or knows a breeder and is looking for a loving home to send your puppy to than let me know! :)

    Hi there, you are a little late. All of us have had our B puppies already. You can try two people, but please make sure you research the health testin background of each breeder. You can try Jennifer Hamaba, of Mandalay Basenjis. She is in Oshawa. Her info can be found here: http://mandalaybasenjis.webs.com/apps/blog/. Also, you can try Sanda Allan of Africanadian Basenji's. If you google her, it will show up. Also, you can give Chris Frost of Bushwacker basenji's a try. I don't know if she has anything or not. Unfortunately, mine are already spoken for.

    @markw cast you net far. We lived in Hawaii and found our love in New Zealand. Cost was $2,000 including air fare. He was well worth it. morse.stafford@gmail.com

    @hawk8875 - Those listing with AKC are paid advertisements. There is no requirement on who can pay to be listed. Go to www.basenji.org and then to find breeder and you can search by state. Breeders listed on there are members of the Basenji Club of America.

    Where are you located? There are actually a lot of options. Sadly, as of late, not a lot of basenjis being posted to BRAT. There are other rescues, including a great rescue for basenjis in Florida and California. Also, if you can't find a suitable rescue, please consider young and adults from breeders that they have decided don't fit their breeding plan. They also need and make great pets.

    @jds_truck: I just want a pet. i am willing to rescue if there is one in the area available as long as it's not to , to sick actually would almost preffer to show a dog that has had a bad living so far that would truley appreciate a good home. Many rescues are actually perfectly healthy dogs that find themselves in need of new homes for various reasons other than health concerns. Check out the BRAT website. Many wonderful basenjis looking for homes :) If you are going through a breeder go with someone you can trust and build a relationship with for the dogs life. Some breeders need homes for older dogs as well and many good breeders are active in rescue too. I hope you find a nice dog…good luck in your search.
