fiour basenjis are using a cat box the breeder started this when they were babies we just kept it up hope this helps

@bea I litter box train my babies also, but don't use clay litter.... but sure it is litter for dogs....

I saw a thread in Books (I think) called Basenji Owner's Manual that some of the members are saying is pretty good. Keep in mind that Lilu is part Shepherd too. She may end up with some behavioral traits of that breed as well.

Surf the puppy sections too…lots of great information there.:)

Again I will say - even though there are some on the list that have great success at a dog park - I don't reccommend the use of dog parks for any breed - disease and no control of the other people and dogs. If you have Alpha basenjis - that just compounds the situation.

You need to train them seperately - because together you are NOT in charge. If you HAVE to go to a dog park - don't have both of them there. You will need obedience training and even then - an Alpha dog is an Alpha dog and they will do what Alpha's do - demand to be in charge.

And I agree, one of my puppy owners and now a co-owner of Kobey… has put a CD and RN on her first bitch that she got from me... and leg 1 of her RA in Rally (from the Nationals)... I totally respect her and what she has done... it is the home to "die" for... IMO.... me on the other hand is the typical Basenji person... NO I am not obedient!
