  • Hi kids
Sorry i haven't been around for a while but i was in hospital having day surgery. Then i had school hols. Busy Busy Busy. Anyway, great news. We picked out our new addition a while back, don't know if i told you but he is gorgeous. Went and saw him on Saturday and i can't believe how much he's grown. He's six weeks now. The breeder wants to get his eyes tested at eight weeks then i get him. Can't wait. he's black and white and wev'e decided to name him Bee-Jay(for Basenji junior). Cute 'eh. It turns out that him and Kaycee are actually cousins.
Well, gotta go and feed the family.
    Talk to u soon
    Hugs to all

I have an alpha female basenji and brought a newborn into our family. I was in the hospital for four days (my in laws stayed with dog and horse), when we came home, we had my Mom bring her new boyfriend. He was a great distraction, but also allowed me some alone time with Cricket. When they left, she noticed the baby in the bassinet and was a bit concerned. She adapted to the baby, but I don't leave them alone just in case. Cricket is not nearly as jealous as she was, now that he drops food for her at the table, but she did get a bit jealous for a few weeks. While I was pregnant, I was told that 'the test' was to play baby crying videos on YouTube. How the dog reacts will tell you how they will interact with the baby. Cricket beat the crap out of my phone when I tried… So not a great test! :)

Arwen has the Chow Chow mentality– you threw it? You go get it. She would occasionally get something just to annoy the Rottie, occasionally in the house to stop Cara. Cara-- fetching fool.

Good for the Gecko. Here in Texas we say it brings good luck to have geckos in our homes. So good luck is coming your way.

Never in a million years did I ever want to get another dog like Duke when he was younger. He was so wild and just a nut case. Then I discovered his Basenji-ism and learned all I could and trained him better. Even the sofa digging to China bothered me, but not for too long (my fault - not enough toys to keep him busy). Now there is Daisy - "Ooops! I did it again." Best thing I did for Duke. Daisy is so occupied with Duke, all the troubles like I had with Duke, don't exist. They play, play, play. I think they are both trying to be top dog. We'll see if either of them ever get to be it. No regrets and am glad we have another. Interesting thing about Daisy - She does not bark. She has a very-very high pitch (hard to describe) like hoot. Only heard it a few times. But she's not a barker. (Duke barks!) She's mostly quiet - when we first got her and put her in crate at night, she had some jungle sounding cries.
