Show Off Your Dog
  • Hello forum followers, I wanted to share Dude's accomplishments in his first year. He is my first dog, and we have had a lot of fun over the year. I have posted many candid photos previously, but would like to share our accomplishments in the conformation ring! After a lot of work, training and learning how to handle and show a dog we managed to earn a few points in the Pacific Northwest!

First all-breed show, Wenatchee Kennel Club in August. Winners Dog and Best of Winners under judge Mrs. Robert D. Smith, thank you for our first point!

Back-to-back wins at our first all breed show, Winners Dog and Best of Winners under judge Gary L. Doerge!

Winners Dog, Best of Winners and Best of Breed in November at the Willamette Valley KC! Thank you judge Arlene Davis!

Winners Dog and Best of Winners on the last day of the Portland Rose City Classic cluster! Tualatin Valley Kennel Club in January. Thank you judge Mrs. Carol Spritzer!

@creambasenji Please start a new topic/thread in Member Introductions when you upload an image of your "cream" basenji. That way, more people will see it. (thanks!)

Hi everyone, Thanks for all of your replies! Rex just had his first vet visit (first with me at least), and he was given a clean bill of health. The vet that I saw also agrees with a lot of you that he looks like a Min Pin more than a Basenji, but he is likely still mixed with something because he's a bit too big to be a pure Min Pin. I've looked at a few DNA Dog Breed tests online, and they seem to range in price and in quality. It seems like some of the cheaper (~$50) tests are fake, but they go all the way up to almost $250 for the higher quality ones. Do any of you have experience with these DNA tests / have a brand you found reputable? I'll be sure to post the results of any of the tests with this forum! Thanks again, and Rex is doing really great in his new home!! [image: 1559586518913-img_3707-resized.jpg] [image: 1559586546977-img_3720-resized.jpg] [image: 1559586568474-img_3708-resized.jpg]

Thank you Debra. Sayblee is a very good looking dog and I love the way adult Basenjis bodies fill out as adults. I like how the brown goes down her legs too giving the appearance of white socks. I will definitely keep your words in mind should I see any signs of aggression forming as he matures. I can only pray I luck out and he continues to get along well.

No idea, sometimes with mixes it's so hard to tell what the parentage is. I do think that your dog's head is a bit more refined than many of the pit mixes i've seen.

I agree with the others that although he seems to have Basenji in him - his head is def. not Basenji. As for the leg I'd have it amputated if it troubles him - He'll cope with 3 legs I'm sure, but certainly consult a specialist first. Please keep us updated.
